Instagram post: Gaza ceasefire deal explained

 

A ceasefire deal between the Palestinian group Hamas and Israel was agreed upon on 15 January 2025 and came into effect on 19 January. The deal, which aims to broker a permanent end to a genocidal war, includes three stages, with the first stage, lasting 42 days, already agreed upon, while the second and third stages are set to be negotiated during the first stage’s implementation.
The ceasefire deal brought relief to 2 million Palestinians in Gaza after 15 months of catastrophic war that resulted in the deaths of over 47,000 Palestinians, including at least 17,500 children The International Court of Justice found on January 26. 2024, that it is plausible that Israel’s actions amount to genocide.
