Palestinian Child’s Day is marked annually on April 5. Palestinian children make up a large part of society, with 43% of the population under the age of 18. Like in any society, they are the hope for a better future.
However, Palestinian children have been subjected to the horrors of violence by the Israeli military, resulting in the killing of more than 20,000 children in the Gaza Strip over the past two years, as well as hundreds in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Additionally, there are more than 350 children in Israeli prisons, many of whom are held without charge (administrative detention). Some may also face the death penalty under a new Israeli law passed by the Knesset (the parliament) on March 30, 2026.
Like any child in the world, Palestinian children deserve a childhood.
