عن البحث: واجه العمال الفلسطينيين تحديات جمة نتيجة انتشار جائحة كورونا (كوفيد-19) والتدابير التي اتبعت لمواجهتها والحد من انتشارها. يتناول هذا البحث آثار الجائحة على العمال في أربع قطاعات رئيسية في الاقتصاد الفلسطيني: الصحة (الضفة الغربية وغزة)؛ والتعليم (الضفة الغربية وغزة)، والزراعة (غزة)؛ والبناء (الضفة الغربية). تشمل هذه القطاعات عدداً كبيرًا من العمال الفلسطينيين في وظائف متنوعة، وجميعهم تأثروا بشكل كبير من الجائحة، والإغلاقات، والركود الاقتصادي النابع عن ذلك. يتبنى هذا البحث المنظور المتمركز حول العمل من أجل فهم تداعيات الجائحة على العمال وعائلاتهم. كما تحدد الدراسة الاستجابات المختلفة المتاحة للناشطين والنقابات العمالية لمواجهة الأحداث الجسيمة المشهودة في السنة والنصف الأخيرة. باستخدام هذا النهج، سنطرح بعض الأسئلة حول التأثير المحتمل للجائحة على المسارات المستقبلية للحركة العمالية في فلسطين. الباحثين
آدم هنية استاذ الاقتصاد السياسي والتنمية العالمية، وكرسي مشترك في دراسات الشرق الأوسط في معهد الدراسات الدولية والمنطقة في جامعة اكستر، ومعهد الدراسات الدولية والمنطقة في جامعة تسنغوا، بكين، الصين. قبل ذلك عمل استاذاً في دارسات التنمية في كلية الدراسات الشرقية والإفريقية في جامعة لندن. تتمحور اهتماماته البحثية حول الاقتصاد السياسي في الشرق الأوسط، وحصل أحدث كتبه” Money, Markets, and Monarchies: The Gulf Cooperation Council and the Political Economy of the Contemporary Middle East (Cambridge University Press, 2018) عام ٢٠١٩ على جائزة مجموعة الاقتصاد السياسي الدولي للكتاب من الجمعية البريطانية للدراسات الدولية.
ريا الصانع، مرشحة لنيل درجة الدكتوراه في معهد الدراسات العربية والإسلامية في جامعة إكستر. عملت سابقاً مديرة للمؤسسة البحثية Who Profits (من المستفيد). تتمحور اهتماماتها البحثية على الأمولة والاقتصاد السياسي وحركة العمالية في فلسطين.
د. رفيف زيادة، محاضرة في العلوم السياسية والسياسات العامة في دائرة العلاقات الدولية في كلية كنغز لندن. تتمحور أبحاثها حول الاقتصاد السياسي، العرق والنوع الاجتماعي، بالتركيز على منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشرق أفريقيا.

The event will be in English and Arabic, and simultaneous translation will be provided.
About the research: Palestinian workers have experienced multiple challenges due to the pandemic and its associated mitigation measures. The study explores the impact of the pandemic on workers across four key sectors of the Palestinian economy: health, education, agriculture, and construction. These sectors employ a large number of Palestinians in a wide variety of jobs. Utilising a labour centred perspective, this research aims to capture what the pandemic has meant for these workers and their families, and to map the varied responses of labour activists and unions. Adam Hanieh is Professor of Political Economy and Global Development and joint chair in Middle East Studies at IAIS, University of Exeter, and the Institute of International and Area Studies (IIAS) at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Adam was Professor in Development Studies at SOAS, University of London. His research interests focus on the political economy of the Middle East, and his most recent book, Money, Markets, and Monarchies: The Gulf Cooperation Council and the Political Economy of the Contemporary Middle East (Cambridge University Press, 2018), was awarded the 2019 British International Studies Association International Political Economy Group Book Prize.
Riya Al’Sanah is a Phd candidate at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter, and previously the director of Who Profits research center. Her research focuses on financialization, political economy and the labour movement in Palestine.
Dr. Rafeef Ziadah is a Lecturer in Politics and Public Policy in the Department of International Development at King’s College London. Her research focuses broadly on political economy, gender and race, with a particular focus on the Middle East and East Africa.
